Last Norfolk Southern Train On Cincinnati Line! Rare Video!

Описание: Last train on this ex Norfolk & Western branch line east of Cincinnati. The local switching crew was picking up the last remaining rail cars on this long spur to prepare for closing the line and making it an abandoned railroad track. Norfolk Southern closed this line due to high maintenance of way costs, trestle problems over the Scioto River and curvy and hilly grades. Filmed April 24 and April 25, 2014 on the Norfolk Southern Peavine Line. April 24, 2014 the T51 crew picks up the last 3 cars in Peebles Ohio at MP71. The tall side gondola was never loaded. There has never been a train in Peebles since I filmed this. These 3 cars were taken to Mt Zion near MP61 where the train shut down for the night. The next day on April 25, 2014 the T51 picked up all the other cars and the SW9 that were left at Mt Zion the previous day. They proceeded west where I filmed them crossing the road in Winchester Ohio at MP57.7 and then I filmed them crossing Eastwood Rd near Mt Orab Ohio near MP36. After almost 11 months, part of this line was reactivated by the Cincinnati East Terminal Railway to MP62.4 in order to serve the grain elevator in Winchester and have track east of Winchester to run the engine around the cars.
