After a local told me this was the top sunset spot, I started my journey at Beitou MRT station and took the train north to Tamsui. From the station, I walked toward the waterfront boardwalk, listened to live music, explored the town a bit, and eventually rented a YouBike to ride toward the suspension bridge and pier.

The evening ended at Lover’s Bridge, just in time for sunset, it did not disappoint.

Tamsui (also spelled Danshui) has a long history as a major trading port during the 19th century when Taiwan opened to foreign commerce. The area reflects a mix of Indigenous heritage, Qing Dynasty development, and European influence. Today, it’s a popular weekend escape from Taipei, known for riverside views, seafood, and relaxed atmosphere.
