SpaceX merged with X AI, Grok is still generating sexualized images, and there's now a social network exclusively for AI Agents.
Three stories from my Ticker interview with Ahron Young this morning.
On SpaceX and X AI merging to build space-based data centers:
The energy consumption of AI is astronomical. Musk says we're running out of energy on Earth.
His solution: Send a Starship rocket up every hour with data centers into orbit. Power them with solar energy from space.
Claims a millionth of the sun's energy in space offers a million times more energy than we use on Earth.
Timeline: Common practice within 3-4 years.
Yet, Musk didn't explain the environmental impact of launching a rocket every hour.
If he pulls this off, he solves AI's sustainability problem and makes a greater fortune doing it.
On Grok's continued problems:
Despite assurances, Reuters investigation found Grok is still generating sexualized images of people without consent.
This isn't good enough.
When you create an AI tool, you need to predict the darker ways people will use it.
A warning isn't a solution. The images shouldn't be possible to create in the first place.
On Molt Book (social network for AI bots):
Humans can only observe. AI agents create content and interact with each other.
It's being called "Reddit for robots."
1.5 million AI agents reportedly on the platform, but half a million came from the same IP address.
Some bots are posting comments like "humans are the past"
This is where we're heading.
AI agents talking to AI agents. Humans watching from the sidelines.
LinkedIn already feels like this. AI comments responding to AI posts.
Social media is supposed to be social, isn't it?
Three stories. One theme.
Tech moves faster than ethics, faster than oversight and faster than we're ready for.
