German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met Russian President Vladimir Putin amid escalating tensions over Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia does not want war and hence is ready to negotiate. This is the first meeting between the two leaders ever since Scholz took office in December 2021. Scholz met Putin in Moscow just a day after meeting Ukrainian President Zelensky in Kyiv. Meanwhile, NATO Chief has said that Russia’s willingness to pursue diplomacy over the Ukraine crisis is a positive sign.
