Now, in the dead of winter, is the safest time to repot Larch bonsai, which is why I was in London yesterday repotting one of the biggest European Larch bonsai you’ve ever seen!
No roots were cut; we just raked out some of the old substrate and gave the tree some fresh pumice/akadama Ibuki soil mix with additional BioChar from probio_carbon and Rootboost slow release fertiliser from Oceana.
The repot allowed us to turn the tree clockwise and more upright in its mica training pot.
The tree will go into a final ceramic bonsai pot one day in the future; this is just one step in what has already been a 10 year journey!
