William Camacho -Spanish - The Visionary of Pierella Ecological Garden

Описание: This is a short history of how William Camacho founded Pierella Ecological Garden, with his beloved Blue Morpho butterflies flying about. In 1995 this was pasture land and now it is a secondary growth rain forest with trees the top 100 feet.It is home to the 3-toed and 2-toed sloths, 4 species of hummingbirds, 7 species of woodpeckers, parrots and parakeets, and many more. It has grown from the beginning 20m x 20m inclosure to raise the Blue Morpho butterfly to 5 hectares, 12.5 acres, and is home to many species of birds, animals and insects, as well as other inhabitants. It is truly a "Rain Forest Island." He, and is wife Kristal Barrantes, have been able to grow Pierella from the meager 20m x 20m plot to 5 hectares by selling the chrysalises from the 15 species of butterflies which they raise!

A GoFundMe has been stated "Rainforest Expansion in Costa Rica" with the goal of $90,000 to purchase 3 more hectares which are adjacent to the existing border, greatly increasing the opportunity to increase the Biodiversity, enhance Ecosystem Services leading to Sustainability and providing much needed Wildlife Corridors, in the region. In addition, we hope to increase the number of species of butterflies, which are raised sustainably, once we get this additional land.
