Abstract:
Previous experiments and earthquake reconnaissance missions have shown that drift is the primary parameter associated with structural and non-structural damage during ground motions.
These observations emphasise the importance of drift control in earthquake-resisting structural systems.

While past studies have focused on regular and planar structures, this QuakeCoRE Disciplinary Theme 2 (DT2) and the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE), Taiwan collaborative project aims to understand the seismic response of irregular steel-reinforced concrete hybrid structures and the interaction among components.

Large-scale shaking table tests were conducted on a five-storey structural steel frame-reinforced concrete wall specimen subjected to 42 ground motions. The lateral loading resisting system of the specimen includes concrete core wall featuring two C-shaped coupled walls and steel-moment connections (as well as buckling restrained braces for some rounds of shaking).



Bio:
Ke Jiang is a Lecturer in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Canterbury, with expertise in high-performance metallic and composite structures. Ke completed her MSc in Structural Engineering at Imperial College London in 2018 and PhD in Structural Engineering at Nanyang Technological University in 2022.

She received the Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (WiEST) Award 2023 in Singapore, for her outstanding research performance and innovative discoveries.

Ke’s research integrates experimental testing, numerical modelling, and developing advanced design approaches.

Ke is an active contributor to the structural engineering research community, serving as an Associate Investigator of Te Hiranga Rū QuakeCoRE, a member of Learnings from Earthquakes subcommittee the New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE), and Editorial board member (early career) of Engineering Structures (Tier 1 journal).
