Between 1890 and 1914, Canadians from all walks of life shaped the country’s identity—through politics, activism, art, and courage. In this Grade 8 history lesson, students will choose one influential figure from the era and create a “mini museum” exhibit to showcase their legacy.
Students will design a symbolic artifact that represents their chosen figure’s contribution, alongside a display board that explains who they were, what they achieved, and why they mattered. Figures might include Nellie McClung, Tom Longboat, Pauline Johnson, John Ware, Maude Abbott, and more.
📚 Aligned with Grade 8 Ontario History (1890–1914) and Arts Curriculum
✏️ Creative focus: Visual symbolism + historical explanation
