Session 7b: Subscribe to Open: A Peek Behind the Curtain
We’ve all heard about the proliferation of journals operating under Subscribe to Open (S2O), which has become an established business model for delivering open access. If you have wondered about what S2O actually means on the ground, this session is for you. Our panellists will go beyond the marketing to highlight the challenges and opportunities associated with S20, as well as discussing practical considerations, such as how to determine whether the model will work for you, what kinds of modifications or variations might be useful, and what can be done if a journal fails to meet its S2O targets. We’ll also be hearing from a librarian, to understand our customers’ perspectives on the model.
Our goal is to offer practical hints and tips that ensure everyone leaves with a clear idea of how S2O might – or might not – work for them.
