The discussion was: Within hours after the Supreme Court ruling, Learning Resources Inc V. Trump, that trade tariffs implemented via executive orders were not legal ( there was no real emergency to rationalize the implementation of tariffs without the authorization of congress).

Trump declared he's placing a new worldwide ten percent tariff. Soon after, Trump changed his mind and  now wants the tariff increased to 15%. It's one thing not to agree with a SCOTUS decision, it's quite another for the president to insult the two justices he appointed by calling them, ' an embarrassment to their families' and a 'disgrace to our nation'.

Trump's never-ending thirst for power prevents him from asking congress to write and pass a law allowing tariffs to be levied against other trading partners.

Trump's preferred path is to create new executive orders that will exploit temporary loopholes in the 1974 Trade Act,  Section 122, to reestablish tariffs. Expect new legal challenges and increased chaos with business now required to navigate the mess of new rules, and the consumer who must suffer to pay for the increase prices of goods at the store. The panel will discuss the impact of Trump's new approach to govern by executive orders versus accepting Supreme Court rulings.

The takeaway was: Trump is willing toss US financial markets and economy into uncertainty, which financial markets detest, because he's not willing to work with congress on a practical solution to trade deficits. Trump's mercurial response to the SCOTUS ruling and two justices voting with it shines a glaring light on the emotional instability and grandiose narcissism the 47th president possess as he governs our nation.
