Rep. Jamie Raskin Sounds Alarm On Epstein Files; Says 'Very Suspicious And Baffling'

Описание: After reviewing the unredacted Epstein files, Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, told reporters he was troubled by what he saw, sharply criticizing the Justice Department’s handling of redactions. Raskin said the files contained thousands of pages in which survivors’ names were not properly protected, while other individuals who were not victims were inexplicably redacted. The Maryland Democrat said there were roughly “3,000 pages” where survivors’ names appeared without redaction. At the same time, he noted that numerous non-victims had their names blacked out, calling several of those redactions “very suspicious and baffling.” Raskin said the redacted names included billionaire Leslie Wexner and former President Donald Trump, describing the decision as strange given that neither is a victim and their names have appeared elsewhere in the public record. He added that he saw a redacted exchange between Epstein’s lawyers and Trump’s lawyers related to the 2009 investigation and said he could not see a clear justification for withholding it, adding that further explanations are expected.
