On 19 January 2026, EU4Advice and COREnet jointly organised a webinar focused on how hygiene regulations can better support short food supply chains, while continuing to ensure food safety and consumer trust.
The webinar presented a concrete best-practice example from Austria, illustrating how regulatory frameworks can be adapted to better reflect the realities of small-scale and local food production.
The session included a presentation by Christian Jochum, followed by a round-table discussion with Mirta Alessandrini, Angel Nepomuceno, Margaux Rusalen, and Françoise Morizot-Braud. This exchange provided space to explore how hygiene rules can work more in favour of SFSCs and to foster dialogue between advisors, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
