Here's how to replace the front coilover struts on a 2008 Ford Expedition or Navigator. The strut replacement is a little different for air ride struts. The coilover struts are easy to remove and install with the vehicle on the ground without a lift. I show you the tricks for removing the nuts and bolts, and the tools needed. Symptoms of bad or worn struts or shocks include a bouncing boat feeling when going over dips in the road, wheel visibly bounces / moves up and down rapidly when going over a bump (instead of being dampened by the strut it just springs up and down), the vehicle dips when braking or squats when accelerating, cupping wear developes on the tires, excessive body roll while turning, vehicle wobbles around excessively when pressing on any of the corners, sides, front, or back - with your body weight, you see oil around the top or sides of the shock and it is not engine oil or other fluids i.e. the fluid has leaked out of the shock.

1/2" drive 15mm socket
1/2" drive swivel
1/2" drive extensions 15" worth
1/2" drive long handle ratchet
3/4" drive ratchets or breaker bars with 27mm and 30mm sockets and extensions, or air tools
8mm, 10mm, 13mm socket + 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet or drill
18mm wrench
21mm wrench
vice grips
9mm hex (socket preferred) + 3/8" ratchet or drill
lug socket
torque wrench (up to 350 ft lb, rentable)
hammer or ball joint separator (rentable)
flat head screw driver
interior trim tool
pry bar
3 jacks
3 jack stands
