Upgrading to a big turbocharger gives you more power and more boost. Make more power on the same boost level, or up the boost to get maximum performance gains. The Mazda 2.3L MZR engines come factory equipped with a tiny, fuel-efficient turbo. Swapping out the uneven and poorly designed stock exhaust manifold with a aftermarket top-mounted manifold frees up space in the engine bay, makes the turbocharger visible, and gives the engine better air flow.

00:00 – Remove turbo oil feed line (engine side)
00:41 – Install turbo oil feed line (engine side)
02:01 – Install exhaust manifold gasket
02:22 – Install exhaust manifold
03:29 – Torque exhaust manifold
03:59 – Install turbo gasket
04:18 – Remove turbo retaining ring
04:31 – Remove turbo compressor housing
04:43 – Install turbocharger
06:25 – Install turbo oil return line
08:01 – Install turbo oil feed line (turbo side)
08:26 – Turbo coolant line parts
08:37 – Install turbo coolant lines
11:16 – Install alternator cooling duct
