Hi, i'm Mat Richardson and I am a professional freelance drummer and percussionist based in Sheffield, England. This is a video of a recent studio session - we were recording Valerie, the tune made famous by Amy Winehouse. I hope that you enjoy it.
We had a lot of material to get through on the day and so we just did a couple of full takes and this is the one that we used. I was happy with how the kit sounds and how everything feels. Its such a nice drum groove on the original recording of Valerie and we just wanted to replicate that feel and keep everything tight and leave the engineer with as little to do as possible.
