Now that the femtosecond laser is being used for some of the steps of cataract surgery, there has been a renewed interest in arcuate keratotomy (AK) incisions created by laser. Both LRI and AK techniques are used to flatten the steep area of the cornea while also having a steepening effect 90 degrees away.
