Heat Up x Pursuit:    • Heated Pursuit - Danganronpa x Ace Attorney  

The second part of my Danganronpa x Ace Attorney crossover arrangements!
I was up in the early morning randomly having a sudden moment of contemplation. I wondered if there's another direction the DR X AA crossovers can go. Having started with Heat Up x Pursuit ~ Cornered (Heated Pursuit), I mentally started comparing aspects of a Danganronpa class trial with an Ace Attorney trial. Naturally it led me to Cross Examination and how Debate Scrums are sort of like examining and objecting to each persons argument. I then couldn't help but compare DR to Ace Attorney characters and wondered who might be worthy opponents in head to head debates.

In terms of the arrangement, the easiest approach might have been to combine the melody of Debate Scrum with the melody of Cross Examination. Kind of like stacking layers of a cake. This time I thought I'd take a different approach and instead rearrange the structure of the Cross Examination melody to make it more akin to Scrum Debate (with a few changes occasionally).

For Heated Pursuit, I modulated Heat Up to the key signature of Pursuit. So in a sense, Pursuit acted as the musical foundation of the entire mashup. This time, I wanted to do the opposite and make Debate Scrum the foundation of the whole piece without explicitely using the melody of Debate Scrum. There were smaller subtle details I needed to do with Cross Examination such as adjusting some chords occasionally to match the rhythmic feel of Debate Scrum.

Beyond that it was a case of recreating the elements of Debate Scrum (which could genuinely be a video in itself!) while also given it an orchestral feel. There were a couple of instruments/ sounds I created for my orchestral arrangement of Debate Scrum last year that I imported directly into this, but the interesting side of it was using the knowledge I have a year later to enhance them and, in some cases, completely start again from scratch.
