Philippine Security of Tenure is a legal principle that safeguards employees from unjust dismissal by ensuring they cannot be removed from their job without a valid reason and due process. Enshrined in the Labor Code, this protection means workers can only be terminated for just or authorized causes, such as serious misconduct or business closure. Employers must follow procedural requirements, including notice and the opportunity to be heard. Security of tenure upholds job stability, prevents arbitrary firings, and reinforces the worker’s right to fair treatment. It reflects the constitutional guarantee that employment shall not be ended at the employer’s sole discretion.
