Join me for a 1925-style breakfast complete with a menu, table setting, recipes & more! It’s fun to see how families ate breakfast back then. It was so much fun to create this video! I love table-setting and tableclothes, LOL!
Aunt Malindy’s Buttermilk Biscuits (Adapted From Good Housekeeping’s Book of Menus, Recipes, and Household Discoveries, 1925)
(Makes 5 large biscuits)
2 1/4 cups flour + extra for rolling
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon lard
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
Heat oven to 450 F.
1. Sift all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
2. Add in lard and mix in well with your fingers.
3. Pour in buttermilk & stir to make a soft dough.
4. Turn out onto a floured mat and knead a few times.
5. Roll out to about a 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds. Place on a baking sheet with a baking mat or parchment paper on it.
6. Bake for around 15 minutes at 450 F. The biscuits will be golden brown. Serve hot with butter.

Table Setting Guide: Found in the 1927 book, Anyone Can Bake by the Royal Baking Powder Company
Trista’s Broiled Fish:
5 orange royghy fish fillets
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
3 teaspoons butter
Lemon slices
1. Thaw 5 frozen white fish fillets if your choice.
2. Oil a broiling pan with grates.
3. Place fillets on pan & rub in butter.
4. Pour over lemon juice on fillets & sprinkle with seasonings.
5. Top with lemon slices on each fillet.
6. Broil for 3-4 minutes each side.
