Описание: The song of the "Arwam", the most famous song among the songs of the communities, which reflects the diversity of the population of Alexandria during this period, including the Greeks who assimilated into the population of Alexandria. Some of them worked in bars, and when the bars closed due to World War I, and their source of livelihood was cut off, they worked in shoe polishing, saying, 'We polished boots, people,' meaning they started polishing shoes. The lyrics are in Egyptian Arabic with a Greek accent with some Greek words which makes the song hard to memorise. The song is from the novel 'And yet' in 1919, which included most of the songs of the communities composed by Sayed Darwish and written by his friend Badi’e Khairy.


أو لحن البوهيجية الأروام، اللحن الأشهر بين ألحان الطوائف، والذي يعكس تنوعًا في سكان الأسكندرية في هذه الفترة، ومن بينهم «الجريج» اليونان، الذين انصهروا في سكان الأسكندرية، وعمل بعضهم في الخمّارات، ولمّا أغلقت الخمّارات بفعل الحرب العالمية الأولى وسُد مصدر رزقهم، عملوا في تلميع الأحذية «مسحتوا بابوتسي يا ناس»، أي قُمنا بمسح الأحذية. اللحن من رواية «ولسه» عام
1919، والتي اشتملت على أغلب ألحان الطوائف التي لحنها سيد درويش، وكتبها صديقه بديع خيري.
