Описание: Shawn was born with HIV. Despite all the advancements in medicine for HIV, those living with it are still highly stigmatized both externally and internally. This talk is from the view of someone that has witnessed the epidemic personally and works to actively eliminate the associated stigma. Born in West Covina, California in 1988, I have been living with HIV since birth. I have been described as living timeline of HIV treatment and I am quite proud of how far we’ve all come. Despite the challenges in my early life, I have used my status to educate those who are HIV negative AND who are HIV positive on the current state of HIV. I am happily married to my HIV negative nesting partner and am proud to say that we have been working together to reduce stigma whenever we can. What was once a curse, is now a gift. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
