Mary — Teachings of Our Heavenly Mother for a Holy Lent

The Virgin "treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart." During Lent, we learn with Mary to be silent in order to hear God, to ponder His Word, and to treasure the mysteries of faith in our hearts.

3. Compassion at the foot of the cross
No one suffered with Jesus as did His Mother. Mary stood at the foot of the cross, uniting her suffering to the redemptive sacrifice. During Lent, we are invited to unite ourselves to Christ's pain, offering our crosses in communion with Him.

4. Faith that hopes against all hope
Between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Mary waited. Her faith did not waver, even when all seemed lost. During Lent, we learn to hope against all hope, certain that light conquers darkness.

5. The example of the humble servant
"They have no wine" — Mary intercedes. "Do whatever He tells you" — Mary guides. She always leads us to Jesus, pointing the way of humble obedience. During Lent, let us follow her advice: do whatever He tells us.

In this time of grace, let us place ourselves under the protective mantle of Our Lady. May she obtain for us a humble and available heart, so that we may live a holy Lent and reach purified the joy of Easter.
