Dallas Zoo’s nearly 3-month-old African penguin brothers are officially swimmers! The brothers recently lost their gray downy feathers, and can now safely swim with their new, mature feathers. Hatched Jan. 28 and Feb. 1, these African black-footed penguin brothers are the second and third penguin chicks to hatch at the Zoo. The brothers both weighed 2.5 ounces at their first weigh in, and have since grown to a healthy 6.5 pounds each.
Our first-ever penguin chick, Marina, melted hearts last spring with her cherished arrival. Now celebrating her first “hatch-day,” Marina is the big sister to these two unnamed chicks.
