Michiel Van Beirendonck is a co-founder of Belfort, a company building dedicated hardware for encrypted compute. He is part of the founding team of cryptographers and chip designers originating from the renowned COSIC research lab. During his PhD, Michiel led key technical breakthroughs that underpin Belfort’s core architecture. His expertise in hardware for lattice-based cryptography contributed to initiatives such as DARPA’s DPRIVE program and the NIST PQC standardization process. Michiel also worked on cryptographic hardware at Microsoft Research and at Rambus.
