Tommy's Trains - Sunday in Eaglescliffe

Описание: Tommy recently celebrated his birthday and so we went on another trainspotting adventure to extend the celebrations. We headed down to Eaglescliffe with the hope of seeing some freight and the Network Rail Engineering Train.

There were also LNER Azuma trains heading that way due to the engineering works at Darlington. That disruption lasts for 6 weekends, including the 16th March when all of the Newcastle United fans will be heading to Wembley.

We started at Cramlington heading into Newcastle and then switching Northern trains down the coast to Middlesbrough (on a Doubler). Then, we caught a Trans Pennine Express to Eaglescliffe where we were met by another group of trainspotters. They were very nice and knowledgeable so Tommy loved chatting to them.

We saw a 60 Class first, 60056 Great Gable before the Network Rail train arrived along with two 43 Class engines. We got a fantastic horn blast from the driver as he arrived and departed from the station.

We then headed to Locomotion, a pub right next to the station which was very impressive. They were serving Sunday Lunch but we only had time for potato skins and ice-cream. They had some fantastic memorabilia but we didn't have time to explore fully. We'll definitely return there and highly recommend it.

After our break, we saw a 66 Class and two more 60 Classes before heading home. We realised on our way back up the coast that there were no trains to Cramlington for a while so we hopped off at Heworth and caught the Metro to Ilford Road where Mammy rescued us. We got one last look at the Network Rail train as it made its way to Newcastle.

We are Tommy and Daddy and we are passionate about trains and planes, but mostly trains. After seeing some older boys creating videos of trains at our local station, we were inspired to give it a go ourselves.
