After the first landing of man on the moon there was a great demand for a coin to honor both the event and the man who was a great proponent of the space program, President Eisenhower. The Eisenhower or “Ike” Dollar was produced in both copper-nickel and special 40% silver collectors editions between 1971- 1978. The obverse has a profile of President Eisenhower while the reverse features an Eagle landing on the moon which is an adaptation of the Apollo11 mission insignia. Offered here are beautiful Choice Brilliant Uncirculated coins from the second year of issue. These coins were only available by special order from the mint and were not issued for circulation. As such they are much rarer than their copper-nickel circulation strike counterparts and are a great addition to your dollar collection.
