1921 was the last year of the Morgan Dollar. After millions of silver dollars were melted down as a part of the Pittman Act of 1918 there was a need to create silver dollars to back Silver Certificates. All the remaining Morgan Dollars hubs were destroyed in 1910 so all new hubs were created for these 1921 Morgan Dollars. The new hubs have a unique look compared to the rest of Morgan Dollar series with a more shallow relief than any other year. These 1921 San Francisco Morgan Dollars are a must have part of every coin collection.
