Saravana Bhavan Restaurant style Channa Kurma - Vegetarian
Channa Kurma is a south Indian recipe, here we make use of coconut in making the masala.
I have tasted kurma in many South Indian restaurant but I usually find the whole garam masala flavours a bit dominating.
I have made this kurma several times for parties especially when I have vegetarian guests, and this kurma has gained me so much of appreciations.
This channa kurma goes well with chapati, parotta, poori or pulao. There is a little bit of grinding and prep work involved but it's totally worth it. I feel the channa kurma tastes even better the next day.
This recipe uses white poppy seeds. If poppy seeds are something that is not available in a country where you live, just omit it.
Try this South Indian version of Channa masala at home and let me know how it turned out.
Chickpea seeds are high in protein. It is one of the earliest cultivated legumes.
