In this episode, I continue exploring Japanese metal, this time entirely driven by viewer recommendations. After covering the history of heavy metal in Japan during the 1970s and 1980s in the first video, I asked viewers to comment with bands from Japan that I should check out next.

For this episode, I either chose one album per band or listened to a specific album if one was recommended. In most cases, I went with the band’s most recent release, including several albums that came out in 2025, which made this episode especially interesting.

This video covers a wide range of styles, including modern metalcore, extreme thrash, experimental and noise-driven metal, traditional heavy metal, doom metal, and classic 1980s-era glam metal. Some of these bands were completely new to me, and a few of these albums easily could have made my end-of-the-year lists.
