Thank you to all of the volunteers, this year and previous years, who have assisted with volunteer hand pulls of invasive water chestnut in the Nashua River.
Invasive water chestnut threatens to take over our waterways, destroying native habitat and interfering with recreation. The Nashua River Watershed Association has been working to address the issue of invasive water chestnut in the Nashua River thru their Nashua River Regional Aquatic Invasive Alliance (a partnership of federal, state, & local agencies, businesses, non-profit groups, and individual citizens), thru grant projects, and thru annual volunteer handpulls like this one on Pepperell Pond, an impoundment of the Nashua River between Groton and Pepperell, MA.
