This video delves into some scandals he had a hand in either creating or covering up. Amongst them are Rock Hudson’s sexuality, Marilyn Monroe’s affairs with both JFK and Robert Kennedy, and Judy Garland’s pill addiction. He also likely covered up a murder possibly committed by Lana Turner and spied on Bette Davis’s husband during her divorce case. Otash also had a hand in outing Liberace and exposing Tab Hunter’s sexuality. A complicated figure, who often played both sides, Fred Otash once said, “I’ll work for anybody but communists, and I’ll do anything short of murder.” Mike Wallace, a journalist, once called him the most amoral man he had ever interviewed. He also served as the inspiration for Jack Nicholson’s character in the 1974 film Chinatown, a movie about a morally ambiguous spy.
