𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗙𝗧: Police Investigate Reported Backpack Theft at Santa Monica Beach

Описание: SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Saturday, February 28, 2026 — Santa Monica police officers responded to a reported theft along Ocean Front Walk involving a man visiting Santa Monica on vacation.

The man told officers he had been sitting on a bench with his backpack placed beside him. After briefly standing and turning away for a few seconds, he said the bag was no longer there when he turned back.

Officers gathered his information and remained in the area. A short time later, the visitor returned and reported that he had located the backpack a few feet away behind the Hot Dog on a Stick stand.

While the bag itself was recovered, the man stated that his wallet and a set of important keys were missing. His passport, however, remained inside the backpack.

No suspect information was immediately available. The incident was documented and the man continued on his way after speaking with officers.

Ocean Front Walk remains one of the city’s most heavily trafficked areas, particularly on warm weekend afternoons, as visitors and residents move through the beachfront corridor.
