I made a little video documentary to be able to have a recorded history of what you can expect in the first week after the Neograft FUE Hair Transplant procedure.
This is Day 3 of the process, June 11th/ 2016.
I have done my best in these following videos to present the facts as well as the expectations as legitimately and truthful as possible. I hope that every one of our potential hair transplant patients will be able to benefit from this in some way.
The third day as I said in the video is definitely called the “Uncomfortable Day”
I am a side sleeper and I like to use a lot of pillows but as you can see in the video, I kind of paid for it on Day 3. The swelling really increased on the third day. I was pre-warned by Dr. Torgerson that this would happen though so I was expecting it. Dr. Torgerson did prescribe me some medication that would eventually help to take this swelling down but on Day 3, you can be expecting some swelling for sure.
The good news is that because of the swelling that this procedure comes with, matched with our hopes to always provide the absolute very best service to all of our patients, The Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic have found a product that Dr. Torgerson recommends for his more invasive procedures such as Rhinoplasty. The product is a specially formulated natural product that can be taken for the 7 days before the procedure and then followed up with the 7 days after the procedure. This will help with the entire overall healing process as well as reduce the amount of swelling that you would typically get otherwise.
The HairMedica CopperK Calming spray was also a life saver once the itching started. It really did work and I didn’t actually have to even use it that much. The itching was never that constant, but it sure helped to have that spray the times when the itching did start.
The scalp cream was also great, but it actually came in handier a few days down the road once the scabs started to “flake off”. The scalp cream also helped to get the scabs off with ease and even now I can tell you that it really helped to make the donor area (back of the head) heal nicely.
The last point that is actually one of the most important from this Day 3 Video Blog is that you NEED to have a good wardrobe of button-down shirts or loose fitting tees at the very least. It really is not fun trying to squeeze a t-shirt over your head while you are still doing everything you can to not irritate the transplanted grafts as well as the healing donor area.
So overall for Day Three: Make sure to always follow the post-op instructions that are given to you. Take all of the medications that are given to you. Have at least a one week supply of button-down shirts. Expect some swelling and itchiness.
