Behind the Mystery of Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP): A Blood Platelet Disorder

The disease impacted her ability to do many of the things she used to do and was often sidelined because of the fatigue and side effects of treatment. We explore the ups and downs of her almost 25-year journey with Chronic ITP and how she empowered herself to stay informed and advocate for herself when speaking with physicians and finding the best management plan for her Chronic ITP.

There are many factors that should be discussed when deciding the best course of treatment for patients. We met with Dr. Terry Gernsheimer, Professor of Hematology at the University of Washington, to learn about the process of shared decision-making; the philosophy in which both the patient and physician contribute to the medical decision-making process and agree on treatment decisions.

We sit down with Caroline Kruse, the President and CEO of the Platelet Disorder Support Association, and Glenna Shen, VP of Corporate Affairs at Sobi.
