If your Honda window trim is faded, chalky, or rough, you might not need to replace it. In this video I show how I restored my faded Honda window trim using Shin-Etsu rubber treatment, along with a Scotch-Brite pad and Magic Eraser to smooth out the surface.
Over time the rubber window trim and molding around car windows can oxidize and start looking old. On my Integra Type R the trim had become gritty and moldy, so I decided to see if I could restore the rubber instead of replacing it.
The process is pretty simple:
• Lightly sand the trim with a Scotch-Brite pad
• Smooth the surface with a Magic Eraser
• Apply Shin-Etsu Rubber Treatment to restore and protect the rubber
After letting the Shin-Etsu soak into the trim for about 24 hours, the difference was huge — the window trim looked about 95% better and no longer stands out when you walk up to the car.
If you’re trying to restore things like:
• faded window trim
• rubber window seals
• car window molding
• Honda weatherstripping
• oxidized rubber trim
this method might help bring it back to life.
I’ll also be using this same process on some of the other rubber trim around the car.
