Sometimes the difference between a truth and a lie is the number of times it gets repeated. A lie repeated many times starts resembling the truth. A hot favourite of opposition parties is to attack the Modi government on either writing off or waiving off loans of rich industrialists, casually blurring the line between the two. But how much of this is true and how much of this is propaganda? In the 45th episode of @thebondeconomist we go in-depth into India's banking sector crisis and NPA (non-performing asset) problem and figure out if indeed banks are writing off corporate loans. And is it necessarily a bad thing? How much of these loans have been recovered? Is PM Modi saving the industrialists, or is he trying to save the economy?

My channel in a nutshell:
@thebondeconomist aims to give a running commentary of what's going on with the Indian and global economy, broken down in simple terms for the general public to understand. Economics is like antibiotics - you need to know what you're swallowing. There is currently a big gap between the economic analysis done for financial markets, and what's available for the general public. And this space typically gets filled either by shrill pro or anti establishment commentators or by finfluencers whose last qualification in economics was probably a semester back in college.
Which is where @thebondeconomist steps in. It aims is to explain the nuts and bolts of how economics unfolds in real life, translate how financial markets are processing economic news, and events in real time, and suggests the right questions to ask.
All blended it in the form of a smoothie that you can simply...slurp! Stripped of jargon, stripped of political bias, and served with a touch of irreverence.
My credentials:
I am an investment bank economist with nearly a decade and a half of experience tracking the Indian economy. I have a PhD in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and two Masters' degrees - one from the London School of Economics (MSc Finance and Economics) and from the Delhi School of Economics (MA Economics).
