Panchachuli is a group of five snow capped peaks situated at the end of Kumaon region in Darma Valley which is located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. Dhauli river flows through this valley.
The altitude of Darma Valley is around 3500 Meters and the peaks have altitudes ranging from 6,334 metres (20,781 ft) to 6,904 metres (22,651 ft).
Darma valley is situated near the Indo-China border. It blessed with a rich floral variety. Orchids are the most grown flowers here. It is home to alpine meadows and beautiful waterfalls.
The altitude of five peaks of Panchachuli is as follows.
Panchachuli 1: Altitude 6355 Meters.
Panchachuli 2: Altitude 6904 meters.
Panchachuli 3: Altitude 6312 Meters.
Panchachuli 4: Altitude 6334 Meters.
Panchachuli 5: Altitude 6437 meters.
The Legend:
It is believed that while roaming in the Himalayas the Pandavas had the last meal here before their journey to other dimensions. They set five cooking hearths on these peakes. Locals believe that the five mountain peaks symbolise the five Pandavas (Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva).

There are about 13 Villages in Darma Valley. You will find many homestays in Darma Valley. If you are planning to go near Panchachuli peaks then Dantu village, Dugtu village and Panchachuli base camp will be your best options. You can enjoy the view of Panchachuli from the homestays of Dantu village. Dugtu & Dantu are two villages situated in Darma Valley and devided by Dharmganga River which later forms Dhauli Ganga. Darma is easily accessible by road.

Ideal Time to Visit - Summer is the best time to visit Darma Valley. Weather is very pleasant there in summer. Sometimes, the road gets blocked due to heavy rainfall and landslide. Make sure to ensure that the road is not completely damaged before planning a trip to Darma.
You will face road in poor conditions in some places but it's manageable if everything is normal there.
