When the priest on duty, Venu Goswami, arrived for the evening service, he found himself locked out of the Lord’s inner chamber.

Thousands of devotees from across India—Bengal, Gujarat, Delhi—were shocked to see the inner temple locked. In a moment of high emotion, a devotee compared the current administration to the tyrant King Kansa, who had imprisoned Krishna’s parents in a jail.

A devotee’s sharp remark:
"जिस तरह भगवान को बरसों पहले मथुरा में कारावास में रखा गया था, स्वयं आज इस सरकार ने... भगवान को जंजीरों में बांध दिया... योगी जी हाथ फैलाए खड़े हैं, हमें बंद करो पर हमारे बिहारी जी कारावास में नहीं।" [10:31]

Faced with massive sloganeering and public pressure, the High-Powered Committee eventually backed down and opened the locks. While the immediate crisis was averted, Saurabh points out that the rift remains wide.
