The Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, is now ready for train operations, marking a key milestone in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail-Link (USBRL) project. Located in Jammu and Kashmir, the bridge connects Katra and Reasi, spanning the deep gorge carved by the Anji River. Unlike the initially proposed arch design, the advanced cable-stayed structure was chosen to navigate the region’s challenging terrain. Built by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), the bridge is set to enhance regional connectivity and support the movement of trains across this mountainous region, contributing to the development of the USBRL.
