1️⃣ Check the calibrator first
Confirm lot number, expiry date, and storage condition
Reconstitute (if lyophilized) exactly as per the insert
Mix gently (❌ no vigorous shaking)
2️⃣ Enter calibrator lot details in the analyzer
Go to: Calibration / Reagent / QC / Utility menu (name depends on analyzer)
Enter:
✅ Calibrator name
✅ New lot number
✅ Expiry date
✅ Assigned values (if required manually)
✅ Factor / concentration (if mentioned in insert)
📌 Some analyzers auto-read this via barcode; others need manual entry.
3️⃣ Load the calibrator on the analyzer
Place calibrator vial/cup in the specified position
Select correct calibrator level (Cal 1, Cal 2, multi-point, etc.)
Ensure enough volume is loaded
4️⃣ Perform calibration
Select tests to be calibrated
Start calibration run
Wait for completion
Analyzer will show:

Recheck lot entry
Re-mix calibrator
Clean probe / cuvette
Repeat calibration
6️⃣ Run QC after calibration (VERY IMPORTANT)
Run both normal & pathological QC
QC must be within range
