J.D. Vance, the bestselling author and candidate backed by former president Donald Trump, has won the Ohio senate Republican primary.
The Associated Press projected Mr Vance’s victory in Ohio, narrowly beating out Josh Mandel and Republican establishment pick Matt Dolan.
The Republican primary field was very crowded, with seven candidates running to be the Republican nominee.
Mr Vance is the author of the bestselling book, Hillbilly Elegy.
