BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has been appointed as the central observer to oversee the election of the legislative party leader. All BJP MLAs from Manipur have been summoned to Delhi for meetings with the party’s top leadership, just days before the second term of President’s Rule in the state is set to expire. Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February 2025 following months of ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
