Pakistan gets a big jolt from BLA freedom fighters, Islamabad on a murder spree in Balochistan

Описание: On January 31 and February 1, multiple coordinated suicide and gun assaults struck across Balochistan — including the provincial capital Quetta, the port city of Gwadar, Mastung and Noshki. Baloch freedom fighters delivered a big blow to Islamabad after targetting police stations, paramilitary bases, a high-security prison, sparking intense clashes with security forces. According to official figures, the attack left at least 17 security personnel and 31 civilians dead, and injured many others. Pakistani troops then mounted a counter-offensive lasting more than 40 hours, during which security forces said they killed approximately 145 Baloch freedom fighters. The Balochistan Liberation Army, a Baloch separatist group banned by Pakistan — has claimed responsibility for the attacks, calling the campaign a coordinated offensive against state installations. The BLA seeks greater autonomy for Balochistan, a province rich in natural resources but is plagued by underdevelopment owing to Islamabad's ignorance towards the region and exploitation of the same.
