UPDATE - There is a better version of Sonic 1, details below. Also Sonic 2 on Master System can be forced to run at 60 using an emulator or NTSC console. This makes it the best version of the game. Sorry for the mistake. It does have a different boss theme than the GG version though, if you care. And Sonic Chaos has very different soundtracks across the two versions. So both versions could be worth a look.
Do you consider these games mainline? I'm genuinely curious to see what people think. I'm still not even sure.
Oh yeah, I brushed over that auto-scroller in Sonic 1. And yes, it sucks. But it's only like 90 seconds long and it's at least still normal gameplay. So I'll take it over Sky Chase. And I know I said some zone names wrong. I really don't care. Does anyone? Most people haven't even played these games.
