Entering the foster care system at age 3, Rob Henderson lived in nine different foster homes before age 8 and was enrolled in six different elementary schools before entering third grade. Today, he is a graduate of Yale University and a doctoral student in psychology at Cambridge University.
Between his early years of loss and chaos and his current success, Mr. Henderson developed important ideas about children’s needs, poverty, and what he calls “luxury beliefs”—ideas and opinions that confer status on the upper class while often inflicting costs on the lower classes.
Join AEI’s Sally Satel and Naomi Schaefer Riley for a discussion with Mr. Henderson about his memoir, Troubled: A Memoir of Foster Care, Family, and Social Class.
