But this afterburn, this 38- to 48-hour afterburn created from this 12-minute protocol is known as EPOC. So in the science world this is known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption. And this is just a fancy word for the amount of fat and calories your body will burn after a exercise session.

After steady-state cardio, it only takes about 45 to 60 minutes before metabolic rate is back to normal. But when you engage in the 12-minute protocol I'm sharing inside this video, you can actually elevate the metabolic rate and burn calories for up to 38 to 48 hours afterwards.

The second benefit this 12-minute protocol will give you is optimize growth hormone. As discussed earlier, growth-hormone levels decline rapidly in the body after 35. So if you're in your 40s, 50s, or 60s, you want to do everything in your power to optimize growth hormone. And this 12-minute protocol has actually been shown in scientific published research to increase growth hormone 400% all the way up to 771%.

Now the third thing that this 12-minute protocol does is it improves your heart strength and insulin sensitivity. Now obviously we all want to avoid heart disease. And we definitely want to improve insulin sensitivity because it can help fight against diabetes and it helps it so that your body can utilize carbs as a fuel source. So when you eat your favorite carbohydrates and you have optimized insulin sensitivity, you're less likely to store those carbs as fat on the body.

Now the fourth thing it does is it helps you lose stubborn fat faster because this 12-minute protocol uses specific movement patterns, specific rest periods, and specific intensity levels that are designed to release adrenaline. And this adrenalin is a precursor to your body shrinking stubborn fat cells.

Now 1 thing you need to understand about using this 12-minute metabolic protocol is that you don't need to do long boring cardio. In fact, research shows it can lead to metabolic damage. If you do excessive amounts of steady-state cardio, you can suppress your T4 to T3 conversion. This is your thyroid. It regulates the metabolism.

You'll also tend to release more cortisol. Cortisol is known as a stress hormone. You'll also release more free radicals when you do excessive amounts of cardio. Now these free radicals have been linked to accelerated aging inside the body and increases your risk of disease.

And the last thing that steady-state cardio does when you use it in excess, it makes you hungrier. Research shows that people who do too much steady-state cardio eat 200 calories or more than they should that they just burned off after their workout, making it impossible to keep their body in a calorie deficit.

Now there are 3 simple zones that this 12-minute protocol uses that you must enter if you want to quickly access and burn off stubborn fat. The first thing is zone 1 which is flatlines insulin. Insulin is known as a body-storage hormone. And when insulin is elevated, it makes it impossible, or nearly impossible, for the body to access fat as a fuel source. So we want to flatline insulin before we move or exercise. And I'm going to show you exactly how to do that.

Number 2 is release hormones. So in zone 2, you want to use these movement patterns, these rest periods, and these intensity levels that are specifically designed to release growth hormone and adrenaline.

And zone number 3 burns off the fatty acids that are floating around in the bloodstream from zone 1 and zone 2. Now this is critical because after age 35, if you're not careful and you don't enter zone three and burn off these fatty acids, they can actually float around to another area of the body and be restored. This is a process known as reesterification. And if you're over 35 years old, you're looking to lose stubborn fat, you want to do everything in your power to avoid re esterification.
