IGM Seminar Series Presents Wendy Chung " Precision Pediatrics" at UC San Diego.
Genomics is rapidly transforming pediatric medicine—from screening to diagnosis to long-term risk assessment. In this seminar, Dr. Wendy Chung will discuss how genomic information can be integrated into routine clinical care to enable earlier treatment, proactive surveillance, and disease prevention, ultimately improving lifelong outcomes for children. As genetic therapies continue to advance, timely and accurate genetic diagnoses will become increasingly essential to clinical decision-making.
Dr. Chung is a clinical and molecular geneticist who directs NIH-funded research spanning autism, pulmonary hypertension, breast cancer, obesity, diabetes, and congenital disorders. She has identified the genetic basis of more than 60 rare diseases and leads the GUARDIAN study to expand newborn screening and accelerate personalized therapies for children. A member of the National Academy of Medicine and recipient of the Rare Impact Award, Dr. Chung is a national leader in the ethical, legal, and social implications of genomics
