CHENNAI Waiting ONE WEEK For A Train?

Описание: Disaster! Indian Railways is broken! We spent 2 days in Chennai station trying to buy a train ticket to Kolkata and waiting for a train which we could not get on, then we waited A WEEK in Chennai to get on a train to somewhere else after all the trains to Kolkata were booked a month in advance.

Why is it so difficult to get a train ticket in India? When we were here 28 years ago it was easy to buy a ticket for a train leaving the next day.

Now, even with online booking it is impossible to get a ticket for a train on a popular route in the near future. They promised us a tourist quota which did not exist.

This is our frustrating 2 days of attempting to travel on from Chennai station. We eventually had to change all of our travel plans because we could only get waitlist tickets.
It feels like Indian railways can no longer cope with the amount of travellers.
