Trains & buses at Broadmeadows - Melbourne Transport

Описание: In this video we visit Broadmeadows station on the Craigieburn line, a place sometimes referred to as the worst station in Victoria. This is because the station is highly outdated and in serious need of a modern makeover. It also doesn't help that the station has a perceived crime problem.

Here we mostly see Metro Comeng and Siemens trains, but we also see a V/Line Vlocity DMU. This video was filmed on the same day Steamrail's A2 986 & K153 were running shuttles on the line between Broadmeadows and Essendon. We therefore see the steam train in one of the shots. We then head off to the bus interchange where we see various Kastoria, Transdev and Tullamarine buses. Dysons also serves the station but we don't see any of their buses on this occasion. The station is particularly popular with airport travelers as taking the train and the 901 bus to and from the airport is MUCH cheaper than riding the Skybus to and from the city.

Broadmeadows station originally opened in February 1873. The current station building opened in 1990 as part of a commercial development on the site. The station also serves as the junction for the Albion - Jacana freight line (which opened in 1929), while the standard gauge line between Melbourne and Sydney also passes through the station. and From 1921 to 2007 the station served as the terminus of electric suburban trains, until electrification was extended to Craigieburn in 2007. A third platform for standard gauge passenger services was built in 2009.
