In this video we visit Hallam, a small station on the Pakenham line in Melbourne's south east. Here we see various Metro trains including Comeng and Siemens EMU's. We also see a couple of V/Line Traralgon line trains pass through operated by Vlocity DMU's, and the QUBE Maryvale Paper Train makes an appearance heading towards Melbourne with G512 & VL360. We also see a couple of clips from the adjacent Hallam Road level crossing. There was also a bit of smoke haze around thanks to the bushfires that were burning in East Gippsland at the time of filming.
Hallam is served by bus routes 863, 891, 893 & 894; operated by Cranbourne Transit and Ventura. Buses seen include modern Scania K310UB's, a Scania K230UB, and an older Mercedes Benz O405NH.
Hallam station opened in December 1880 as Hallams Road, before being renamed to Hallam in 1904. It's a fairly basic station despite having had some minor upgrades in recent years including the provision of a new shelter and exoloo public toilet. However it won't be this way for much longer as the adjacent Hallam Road level crossing is on the list to be grade separated. As a result Hallam station will be rebuilt by 2022 as an elevated station, similar to Rosanna station on the Hurstbridge line.
Date: December 2019.
